In the run up to the showcase of work undertaken by artists-in-residence for the 2021 edition of Peers, we present a series of conversations.
Recorded in medias res over a zoom call, and briefly contextualised for the listener, these snippets offer a gentle glimpse into our exchanges through the course of residency and in prelude to the show, hoping to channel the intensive nature of our dialogue as well as its episodic drift.
In this episode, I, the critic-in-residence, am in conversation with Salman Bashir, whose work on Kashmir evokes as well as revokes the weighty myths that consolidate the idea of the place. His work can be followed over instagram.
Shivani Kasumra is the critic-in-residence for Peers 2021. She is an MPhil Student at School of Arts and Aesthetics, Jawaharlal Nehru University and a Research Associate at the Museum of Art and Photography, Bangalore.
